Any form of learning conducted partly or wholly over the Internet is simply referred to as online learning. It is also known as electronically supported learning that relies on the Internet for teacher/student interaction and the distribution of class materials.

Online learning encompasses various forms including Computer-based training, Web-based training, Internet-based training, online training, e-learning (electronic learning), m-learning (mobile learning) and computer-aided distance education. Examples include Skooleeo, Byjus, Google classroom etc.

With the continuous growth of the internet and the covid-19 pandemic, the gaps in traditional learning are largely now more evident, as most kids have had to resort to online learning tools and platforms to help them keep up with academic learnings. However, for kids to successfully make use of their time learning online, below are 7 tips to help make their experience learning online better.

Set a specific time for studying

Just like regular learning, there should be a daily time-frame fixed for learning. Select a time when there are minimal distractions such as in the mornings when the brain is still fresh and ready to take in information. With a fixed time-table kids can easily go over lessons easily as it serves as a tool to keep their learning organized.

Eliminate distractions

Distractions such as the tv, games and mobile phones which can be within the reach of kids should be completely removed from the online study area to prevent a lack of concentration and prevent learning goals from being achieved. Also depending on the device being used with a laptop or tablet or distracting applications such as social media or access to other websites should be limited.

Personalize learning

With online learning, learning can be better personalized for kids. From the learning space to equipment as well as learning schedules can all be personalized based on the child’s strengths and gifts as much as possible.
